Low-sec was okay before it became guaranteed death for anything larger than a frigate. HICs ruined all chances for low-sec to be more profitable for mission runners. Nerfing high-sec is asinine, when what they need to do is un-nerf lowsec. Fitting a rack of stabs to move a mission ship one system over was viable for the mission runner, and still counterable by able minded pirates. Now mission runners are plain ******, because there's HICs everywhere and more and more are training for them, that's all there is to it.
HICs changed nothing in the big picture.
They messed up the chances of people using stabs to escape, but people using stabs were already gambling along the lines 'ok, if this is a gatecamp with <5 people and w/out speciality ships for catching me, I live, else I die' - MWD back to the gate (or MWD away, or MWD+cloak trick for industrials/etc) was almost always the better option.
HICs merely make it easier for smaller gatecamps to catch people - bigger gatecamps caught the same people before w/out problems. If it is a small gatecamp, you should have little problems burning back to the gate anyway (in the worst case, you will get hit by a couple of webs while you're already 8-9km off gate moving towards it at 1km/s, meaning you'll be hitting the gate before you deaccelerate to slug-speed).

I loved low-sec before HICs, but I'm not willing to buy GTCs for isk so I'll stay in high-sec now so I can earnmoney the way I've always liked to. I'll repeat, low-sec was okay before; dangerous but with an acceptable level of safety and required a bit of effort for the PvPer... now the risk is no longer worth it. So you can keep it. And I'll keep my stuff.
HICs only nerfed stabs. Gatecamp running does not, in fact, require stabs. There's much better things to do with your lowslots if you want to move from system to system.

This guy is a carebear and not afraid to admit that the problem isn't low-sec/0.0, he's just a carebear and wants to maximise his safety. Which is a OK and legitimate attitude as long as he realises he's not 100% safe in high-sec even (wardecs, suicide ganks), which he probably does.
It's better to admit 'I don't want risk so I stay in high-sec', then to whine about low-sec, or HICs, or pirates, or whatever. Personally, i didn't move to low-sec (I was a low-sec ratter before I got into piracy) because of profits or whatever (although I have done quite well), I moved it because the excitement of low-sec made it a much better and more interesting game experience then the tedium of running missions in high-sec.
A month more of mission running, and I would've quit the game and went on to play something else, I found it that boring.
